Enjoying the Maui County Fair
There are a few events to which I look forward every year: birthday, Christmas, labor day, and (since moving to the Valley Isle) the arrival of the Maui County Fair. Along with the rides and sense of community, what attracts me the most is the FOOD!
The Maui County Fair offers the perfect mix of Hawai’ian-inspired cuisine with traditional fair food: malasadas, poke, poi, loco moco, lumpias, tamales, quesadillas, curly fries, fried ice cream, corn on the cob, cotton candy, sundaes, and much more. With such a varied sampling, even the most discerning food aficionado is sure to be pleased. The 88th annual Maui County Fair will entertain Kama’aina and visitors alike from September 30th to October 3rd. For more information on hours of operation, attractions, parking, entertainment, etc., please visit the Maui County Fair official site.
An atmosphere filled with laughter, food on a stick, thrilling rides, and the Aloha Spirit is the perfect recipe for a memorable day on Maui. For me, the fair is the epitome of nostalgia, a moment to relive my childhood enjoying rides with my family and friends while devouring some delicious food (and remember, fair food is meant to be eaten with your hands). I hope to see you there.
