One of our favorite Wolfgang Puck shows was the episode when he visited with local foodie-farmer Chuck Boerner at his Ono Organic Farms in Hana, Maui. You can visit Chuck every Saturday in Kahului at the Maui Swap Meet.
If you go to Hana, you should make a point of calling Ono Organic Farms and scheduling a trip around one of their farm tours.
Not only will you taste the fruit – you’ll pick it off the trees first. Our favorite all-time Wolfgang Puck episode was his visit to Chuck Boerner’s Hana oasis. The air in Hana is rich with scents of flowers, salt air, and lush, tropical plants – and if you’re driving all the way out on that road, taking time to just enjoy the place is essential.
A trip to Ono is well-worth it, but if you don’t make it or they’re not offering a tour when you’re there, you can always stop at the Maui Swap Meet in Kahului and look for Chuck. He’s there most Saturdays with his crew and his fresh produce.
