I am glad to see you guys are on top of it. The tripadviser web site recently listed 808 bistro its members #1 most favorite resturant from your first impresion it sounds like the tripadviser people like the value. We have a pet boarding kennel in kansas city missiouri and many of our clients complain about their Maui eating experiences. #1 complaint of families is tooo expensive .

We ate here back in May and really enjoyed our meal. I agree that the BBQ sauce on the shortribs is a little funky. We stopped at the liquor store in the strip mall and got a half bottle of vino. Nice ambience at night, good portions and tasty food make this a definite return when we’re back in the area.

We are staying in Kehei while on vacation and we stopped in to 808 Bistro after being told we would have to wait an hour and a half for a table at Fred’s (which, having since eaten the pitiful food and awful margaritas at Fred’s, would have been a complete waste of life). The food at 808 was very nice, fresh and flavorful, and we found it to be a good value. We went back again the next night because it is so QUIET, and my dad has trouble hearing. The second night, I found the steak on my skewers and the jasmine rice to taste a little on the “been in the fridge” side, which was disappointing. The fish was fresh and the pineapple salsa was delicious, and the desserts were among the best we’ve had on the island. Both times we visited we were one of two occupied tables. It would be nice to see this place thrive.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit (and it will not be my last) to 808Bistro. The service was great also, so I would definitely recommend it. Perfect for some food after a few hours at the beach (but bring your own beer, hopefully they’ll be able to serve soon).
