Kai Wailea, Maui’s Newest Restaurant Serves Sushi & Japanese Tapas
The Shops of Wailea is home to Maui’s newest restaurant: Kai Wailea.
It features Izakaya style cuisine which you can think of as tapas: small plates that are meant to be shared by others in your party. Of course there is sushi, but there is also a wide selection of grilled meats, seafood and vegetables prepared Robata-yaki. That means the meats are grilled over bincha charcoals which are imported directly from Japan.
Kai Wailea offers a selection of sakes, including a number of unpasturized and unfiltered ones. If that doesn’t sound tempting enough, for dessert, they serve our favorite gelato: Ono Gelato.
For reservations, call (808) 875-1955. Take a look at the menu at Kai Wailea.
