This friendly guide, written by Jerry and Janine Sprout, is close to a bible in our house. We have never met the Sprouts (but we hope they read this and tell us the next time they island hop over to Maui, so we can meet for a meal), but their direct, friendly writing style mark them as kindred spirits.
Their accurate directions and tips will show you the entire island, from the top of Haleakala to the lava caves of Hana. Whether you’re a serious adventurer or just a daytripper, you’ll find plenty of useful information. There are several guidebooks to Maui, but if you’re looking for straight-up, honest, accurate information from friendly people with good judgment, this is it!
Check out their five star reviews on Amazon. If you already own Top Maui Restaurants, this is the perfect companion guide to make a great Maui vacation.
Hey, Sprouts – mahalo for your hard work. I know how hard it is to write a good guide!

Sansei on Kihei was FABULOUS!!!! There was a bit of a line Sunday but it moves fast. (Molly mentions this in her review). We had a LOT of sushi for 50% off!!! The dynamite shrimp was great & my hubby enjoyed the butterfish (Both recommended by Molly). The best was a mango sauced wrap—VERY tasty! Service for sushi was pretty fast. Tho, our tablemates, who were Maui residents, had to wait awhile for their orders of steak & fish. If you love sushi, do go check out Sansei! Four stars!

Coconuts truly has a most yummy coleslaw! Ate there this past week for dinner. Had the ano “burger” with a side of fries. Excellent! A tad messy so you might use a LOT of paper napkins! If you do NOT have a big appetite, you might ask for your fish burger to be served open-faced or “naked”. We left feeling quite full! Was probably the most economical dinner we had while in Maui. Ambiance is similiar to a VERY clean & well lit fast-food restaurant, tho. Your food is brought to the table by the cashier. Very sweet cashier who told us a bit of history about the restaurant (Named for the owner’s beloved black & white cat).
