Ask Molly: Where to Watch the Big Game on Maui
“Where are some good places to take in good food and watch the superbowl? Thanks!”
If you’re on Maui and want to watch the Big Game, there are a few places where you can get both decent food and a good view of a screen. (Fair warning: for most of these places, the food is not the point of our recommendation.)
South Maui (Kihei/Wailea):
Lulu’s in Kalama Village (across from the whale statue on South Kihei Road) will certainly have the big game on and plenty of people watching with you.
Fat Daddy’s, also in Kalama Village, has good barbecue and a small bar with a TV.
Three’s Bar & Grill, also in Kalama Village, has a large lounge area and good food.
Ocean’s Beach Bar & Grill in Kukui Mall just next door is a big sports bar with plenty of open windows. And Jagermeister on tap.
Central Maui (Ma’alaea/Kahului):
The Kahului Ale House on Kamehameha Ave. next to Wendy’s is a standby for locals looking to catch a game. Dozens of big new TV’s.
Beach Bum’s Bar & Grill is a likely spot for both sports enthusiasts and smokehouse bbq-lovers. Park in the Ma’alaea Harbor lot outside Maui Ocean Center, and take the stairs down to the restaurant on the lower level.
West Maui (Lahaina/Ka’anapali):
The Maui Brewing Company Brew Pub hits the sweeeeeet spot: excellent, award-winning brews, good food, and plenty of screens. On the highway in Kahana, in the same shopping center that houses McDonald’s.
Lahaina Coolers is a pleasant place to catch a game and eat good food.
Just about every restaurant with a TV is likely to have the game on, and if you’re near a resort, they’re definitely hoping you’ll watch the game in their bar.
Kickoff is on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 6:30pm EST, which is 1:30pm in Hawaii.
