New Edition of Top Maui Restaurants Available!

The newest edition of Top Maui Restaurants is completely updated and totally revised for 2012. New index! New contributor! New map!!

Phew! After months of eating, writing, editing, pruning, editing, and indexing, the new edition of Top Maui Restaurants just hit the bookshelves.

This year’s edition is even more organized, more useful, and more complete than ever before. Here’s why:

• Shannon Wianecki joined us as a contributor for this new edition. Shannon spent eight years as the dining editor of the magazine Maui No Ka Oi, and she has eaten everywhere. She is not only a fantastic food writer, she’s also a born-and-bred foodie. Her dad was a French-trained pastry chef, and she’s done everything from wait tables (Four Seasons, no less) to sling short-order Indonesian food. Shannon’s contributions meant we could keep several more reviews “fresh” than we normally would have been able to. She also beefed up our Top Maui Tips section with her comprehensive knowledge of Hawaiian and local food. We could not be more grateful for her contribution.
• We caved to pressure and included a new listing section at the back of the book, where all of the restaurants are listed in order of their ratings (food, service, ambience, love, value, and overall). We were surprised to find out how much we love having this new feature. It really does show you “at a glance” which restaurants consistently rise to the top! So, good idea, guys.
• The section which used to present lists of restaurants by location, budget, and food craving (ex: burgers, happy hour, sushi, etc.) has been pruned and beefed up at the same time. Instead of listing all restaurants in these indices, we cut the slackers and kept in only the restaurants we really recommend. We renamed this section “Top Maui Restaurants” — because it only addresses our best recommendations for you. We love this new section and hope you will find it extremely useful.
• We added in the map to Maui that somehow escaped our last edition. Why did we leave it out? We’re not sure. But it’s back now.
