Sansei Kihei 50% off Early Bird Special – Sundays and Mondays

This is how we feel about the Early Bird Special at Sansei in Kihei, Maui. Yum.

Mondays at 4:45pm tend to find James and I cursing under our breath because we just missed the narrow window of opportunity to get over to Sansei for their 50% off special.

If we leave after 4:30pm, we’re likely to arrive after the line for tables fills up, and also the line for the sushi bar and the full-service (read: full menu) regular bar. Bummer!!!

Drinks and the daily specials are excluded, but all food is 50% off until 6pm. Doors usually open at 5pm, but you should get there much earlier. Dedicated people in the know bring a chair to relax with a good book.

Sansei makes some of the best food on Maui, and the Early Bird Special every Sunday and Monday should be added to your must-try list.

Try the miso butterfish if you’ve never had it. Also the Kenny G (thin slices of shiromi bathed in a ponzu viniagrette melt on your tongue). We personally prefer the more straightforward sushi rolls (it’s just our style), but the towering, fancy, colorful rolls on the Sansei menu will make even the most pure of sushi hearts salivate.

If you are a sushi newbie, this is an excellent restaurant to dip your toe (tongue?) in. My mother tried sushi for the first time here and L-O-V-E-D it. They were very kind to the 60+ lady and gave her kid chopsticks. 😉

There are plenty of excellent Pacific Rim entrees to choose from as well.

The Kapalua location only offers their early bird to those with a Hawaiian ID, but the Kihei location gives both kama’aina and visitors the discount.

Late night discounts also abound at Sansei, plus karaoke.
