Surfing Goat Dairy Lilikoi Quark Cheesecake
The seventh anniversary of my arrival on Maui is Friday, August 10. Saturday, August 11 is the seventh anniversary of my meeting James for the first time. (Readers of Top Maui Restaurants will recall that uber-romantic first date!)
So, a celebration is in order.
Since our daily life is so very packed with activity and plans most of the time, the most romantic plan we can imagine is an agenda-less day: to just wander where our whims take us.
I suspect my whim will direct us to the broad lands above the sugarcane and below the Kula Highway, right to Surfing Goat Dairy. And perhaps we will turn down the long drive, greet the kids playing on the surfboards, and find ourselves ordering a slice of their Lilikoi Quark Cheesecake to share. A latte (with fresh goat milk, of course) might also be in order.
Doesn’t that look like the Perfect Treat for August?
This cheesecake is perfect. Rich and creamy in texture, it is still light on the tongue. The buttery, tangy quark (lightly drained goat’s milk curds), could not have a better partner than this perky, fruity-lemony lilikoi (passionfruit) glaze.
You can get your own cheesecake on their website, but if you get a chance, stop in and get a tour. The goats are hysterical, the cheesemaking process is fascinating, and the cheese itself has won national awards. Well worth your time, and just a pittance to enjoy.
Call to book your tour — they fill up.
