South Shore Tiki Lounge
We can’t help but like Tiki Lounge, the open-air, thatchroofed bar in Kalama Village. The food (sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos) is average, but the drinks are generally good, and it’s got a fun, relaxed vibe that just works, and has for a while.
Live music, surfing videos projected on a giant screen … it’s a nice little joint for a drink and an appetizer. For some reason it’s been hyped as a good place for vegetarians, and while we do appreciate that they offer veggie burgers and faux hot dogs, we can’t get behind the crumbled veggie patties used in the chili and curry plate. We’d also be considerably happier if the coleslaw wasn’t served in styrofoam cups — just like it is at KFC. We do like that they use “smart fry” oil for their French fries. Snacking on bar food is so much better without the guilt factor.

The South Shore Tiki Lounge has a perfect location for convenience with Polynesian atmosphere. I love the excellent drinks and extremely friendly service. I also buy a t-shirt ever six months and remember the Tiki decor and generous pulled pork sandwich I usually order.
