Ma’alaea Waterfront Restaurant

The Waterfront is a Maui institution that was once one of our favorite places but has been disappointing us terribly for the last few years. In mid- 2011 this fish restaurant on the lower level of an out of the way condominium in Ma’alaea closed its doors for “renovations.” We were skeptical that they would re-open, especially when the September date got pushed back to October, and then to “indefinitely.” However, it looks like they may have found a new place: a decidedly better spot in the space where Ma’alaea Grill once operated. That restaurant has beautiful views and is well-situated at the back of the Maui Ocean Center complex. Better parking, easier to find — hopefully this move will be inspiring (if it happens), and they’ll get their mojo back in their new digs. Check their website or their Facebook page, which they regularly update, to see if they’re open.
