Eat at Joe’s for Blue Plate Specials – 3 Courses $29
When James had a craving for meatloaf, we knew just what to do.
If we’re looking for upscale comfort food, Bev Gannon’s Joe’s Bar & Grill in Wailea is always on the top of the list.
James’ meatloaf was perfectly moist, layered with flavor, and smothered with a delicious plummy barbecue sauce. This is not low-calorie fare, but it’s worth it.
Note: This meatloaf is so good that when it was served in coach on Hawaiian Airlines, first class passengers insisted on getting the meal. It’s now a permanent option in first class.
Too bad it wasn’t a Sunday, because that’s the day that Bev features meatloaf in her Blue Plate Special. (It was a Monday, so I got the ribs on the Blue Plate. Recommended.)
The Blue Plate is a three course dinner for $29, and every day features a different appetizer/salad, entree, and dessert. Here’s the list, but it’s from memory, so call ahead to make sure you’re going on the right day:
Sunday: Meatloaf
Monday: Ribs
Tuesday: Jambalaya
Wednesday: Fresh catch of the day
Thursday: Pork Loin
Friday: Prime Rib
Saturday: Stuffed Chicken Breast
My apologies for the photo – it’s of the ribs. The lighting was super low, so my pictures came out way too dark. The plate looked much less neon than this.
You can call Joe’s at 808-875-7767 to make sure the special is still running and make reservations.
