Big Wave Cafe

At its best, Big Wave has been a moderately priced, no-frills place with generous portions of average food. In the last couple of years, the love has gone down and the portions, as well. There are now no substitutions (ever) on the specials, and if you want coffee with your $5 breakfast the bill will be $8. The breakfast fare is still satisfying, but the careworn attitude of the servers is not exactly a lovely way to start the day. The early bird special is still available every day from 5-6:30pm, and they have lots of other price promotions in play, too. When the mood in the kitchen is good, the prime rib is an excellent deal, as is the coconut shrimp entrée. (We’ve noticed that moods tend to translate to the quality of the food.)
